Common Reasons for Mechanical Visits with a Brand New Vehicle

You have worked hard to finally get that brand new vehicle you have always wanted. Part of the draw of investing in a new vehicle is the fact that a new vehicle usually does not need any work and should be highly reliable. While that may be true, there can also be problems with brand new vehicles, just as there can be problems with older models. Sure, the problems are few and far between, but they can happen. Take a look at some of the reasons why you may have to visit a mechanic or auto service provider in spite of having a new vehicle.

The automaker has issued a recall on a part.

Sometimes it's hard to know exactly how reliable parts can be until they have been in action for a while. This is why it is not uncommon for recalls to happen not long after a brand-new vehicle is released. If a part inside the motor or vehicle is recalled, the automaker will cover the costs of going to a licensed mechanic, having that part removed, and getting a replacement part so you can be on your way. These recalls can be frustrating, but they are meant to keep your vehicle running efficiently for as long as possible.

There are issues with leaks from the engine.

It is really unlikely that you will have leaks from the engine if you have a new vehicle, but occasionally, these problems do come up. Most often, the leaks will be related to issues with something being improperly seated during the assembly process, so these kinds of problems do not tend to be a big deal. However, if you do spot a slight leak coming from the engine of a vehicle you just bought, it is best to have it fixed right away while the vehicle is still under warranty.

The new vehicle needs a tune-up to maintain its warranty.

Changing the oil and having mechanical checkups is part of making sure your new vehicle is going to last as long as possible. In fact, you may inadvertently void your warranty if you do not have certain things done. For instance, if you buy a new Chevrolet Corvette and never get the oil changed, which may cause the engine to blow, the warranty probably would not cover the replacement of the engine for your new car, because you caused the problem.
